Dialogue Between Sam Falls and two armchairs by J.B Gourdin

The Clash of Cultures, Rue de Monceau.

The meeting of Sam Falls (born in 1984) and Jean-Baptiste Gourdin (Master in 1748) during an exhibition organized at Galerie Kraemer.

Always open to the public, the Gallery also organizes exhibitions that blend great artists from all eras and styles, often found in the finest private collections.

Sam Falls is globally renowned for his hybrid works with a unique manufacturing process, often inspired by nature, and he has even collaborated on a limited edition of Louis Vuitton bags.
He creates his compositions by placing plants on canvas, which he then sprays with pigments and exposes to the elements for an extended period, thus studying the work of time—quite literally—on his pieces.

Accompanying Sam Falls’ work are two of the six rare Louis XV-era armchairs with removable carved wooden frames, stamped by J.B. Gourdin. His creations can be found in major private residences and, of course, in major museums such as the Louvre, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Wallace Collection in London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and the Swedish Royal Collection, to name just a few.
